Metanoia, Day 8: Community
By Richard K. Marshall · Originally published
Part 8 of a ten-day journey. The full series is also available as one combined guide.
No one is an island.
In the journey of metanoia, that's truer than ever.
Hebrews 10:24-25: "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another."
We're designed to grow together, iron sharpening iron.
Why share your journey
- Accountability. Share your goals and you're more likely to keep them. It's harder to slip back when people are cheering you on.
- Encouragement. Everyone has moments of doubt. Community lifts you up and reminds you of God's promises.
- Learning. Every believer has something to teach.
How to engage
- Join or start a group: a small group, a Bible study or an accountability partner.
- Be open. Share struggles and victories. Vulnerability builds real connection.
- Serve. Sometimes the best way to grow is helping someone else on their journey.
The amplifying effect
A single log burns brighter in a fire with others.
- Prayer support. Let others pray for you when you're struggling.
- Shared wisdom. Learn from people a step ahead or with a different view.
- Joy multiplied. Growth shared is joy shared.
Today's challenge
- Reach out. Tell someone about your journey, or ask about theirs.
- Plan together. Set a regular time to meet and talk about spiritual growth.
- Give back. Encourage someone else in their walk.
Your journey can inspire others, and theirs can carry you forward. Together, we become more like Christ.
Next: Day 9, Service.
