Metanoia, Day 9: Service

Part 9 of a ten-day journey. The full series is also available as one combined guide.
Serve out of love, not obligation.
Service isn't just something we do. It's who we become in Christ.
Matthew 20:28: "just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
When we serve, we live out our transformation. We see every person as someone Christ would serve, and we see Him in them.
Why serve
- Love in action. Service is love made visible.
- Self-reflection. Serving reveals our own hearts and where we need grace.
- Growth. Serving stretches us and teaches patience, humility and compassion.
Love, not obligation
If service feels like a chore, we're missing the point. It should flow from a changed heart.
- Look for needs. They're everywhere, from holding a door to bigger commitments.
- Serve where you are. You don't need a program. Start with family, neighbors or coworkers.
- Expect nothing back. Let the reward be the joy of reflecting Christ's love.
See Christ in others
Everyone you meet today bears God's image. That changes everything.
- Dignity. Treat everyone as God's creation.
- Compassion. Notice what others are carrying, as Jesus did.
- Connection. Serving draws you closer to people and to Christ.
Today's challenge
- Find one way to serve. Make coffee for a coworker. Listen to someone who needs to talk.
- Do it with love, not duty.
- Reflect afterward. How did it affect you? Where did you see Jesus?
Seeing Christ in others turns service from a task into a privilege.
Next: Day 10, Patience.
